WHY NOTHINGISM
Everybody in search of a better quality of life knows that the hustle and bustle of every day life is the principal cause
of stress.
When we've got no time left for anything; when we're always busy and in a hurry, we feel it is impossible to stop and
really do nothing, even for just a minute.
That's why it's so difficult to stop, switch off, disconnect…as though it were prohibited!
Stopping and doing nothing seems like a waste of time, like something useless and, at the same time, brings us feelings of
anxiety and guilt.
Nothingism is a change of conscience. It's about becoming aware of the importance of stopping. It's about realizing that
pauses are essential for our health and that everybody should have the right to stop and do nothing from time to time.
The Nothingism Club was created with the idea of spreading this new ideal and of creating special moments that offer the
rare and precious opportunity of really stopping and doing absolutely nothing.
The Club events are public and take place at least once a month in beautiful, peaceful parks.
On starting your free membership, you will receive by email, a list of events with time, date and any special information.
Apart from participating in events, you should, ideally, begin putting aside moments for daily practice until you reach a
balance between your normal activities and the practice of nothingism.
So, when we allow ourselves to stop, we begin to enjoy these moments and by literally doing nothing, begin to live better,
calmer, healthier and happier lives.

THE STORY OF NOTHINGISM
Nothingism was created in London by the designer, Marcelo Bohrer who, after suffering burnout as a result of stress,
decided to begin investigating to discover why people nowadays are unable to stop.
In 2006 he founded the Nothingism Club which was officially launched in Brazil.
More than twenty events have already taken place in Brazilian capital cities such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro,
Curitiba, Florianópolis and Porto Alegre.
The first international events took place in August 2008.
One in Munich, Germany and the other in London, where it received the support of the well known journalist, Carl Honorè,
supporter of the Slow movement and author of the world best seller, "In Praise of Slow"
The club today has more than six thousand members around Brazil and many abroad.
Also in 2008, the creator of the movement, Marcelo Bohrer began a publicity tour of his book around various
Brazilian capitals "Nothingism - How to Have a Better Life Doing Nothing"
Aside from receiving very widespread news coverage, the book received praise and recommendations from well known people
such as the journalist Martha Medeiros, the psychologist and Doctor in (Idleness, Spare time, Leisure time), Ieda Rhoden
and the illustrious ZenMonk, Coen.
There are plans in 2009 to launch the book in various countries within Mercosul and the United States, where a special
meeting will be held in Central Park, New York.
"Stress is a problem which affects the entire world and for this reason, Nothingism, with its easy and accessible solutions,
should be spread around internationally", asserts Marcelo.

GROWTH OF CLUB
We are on the road to creating club centers in various Brazilian cities and abroad so that many more people can benefit from the practice of nothingism.
If you are interested in starting a club in your town/city, see how you can become an ambassador.
To help with its expansion, the Nothingism Club looks for sponsors, companies whose beliefs in the quality of life improvement to invest in this movement, which has shown such strong growth potential and repercussions.
